About

My Start and Why This Blog exists

I put together MetaTasks.com part because many people have found my knowledge useful and worth sharing, but mostly because I like to puff out my chest. who doesn’t? I’ve had 17 years real world work experience in computer programming and have worked on some pretty big sites over time such as Victoria’s Secret, HP Small Business, Express Fashion, and many others.

I started using computers back in the Apple 2 era and never stopped, I’ve been a mac evangelist and a PC users. By the time was 13 I was writing my own programs in QuickBasic, and FutureBasic. My love for video games got me interested in programming with a desire to make games. In high school I started my first company with a friend and wrote shareware programs and took part in writing a game. One of my freeware programs was include in 3 magazines and had over 2 million downloads. This and my love for Macintosh allowed me to get a mentorship opportunity at Resource Marketing (now Resource Interactive) who at the time was marketing Apple Computers. This is where I cut my teeth in the web development world and my passion for software development evolved into web development. Seeing how graphic design was an integrated part of web development I started getting interested in art.

When I went to college I was already working as a programmer in the marketing field, and had a small software company. I had been fortunate to be exposed to business, programming and graphics design that when I went into college I knew what I wanted to study. I started a computer science major and art and business minor. After some basic business courses I dropped that minor and upped my graphic Design to a second major. I enjoyed it and found it to be another talent like programming I had to work at. These decisions were very wise even if they were just me stumbling around.

Fast forward to present day, I am a highly skilled developer and designer and have been honing my business sense. I have write code in 23 different languages over the years,  currently have two active LLCs. One I am the sole owner and outsource my development to the phillipines. One I am working with a partner. Both are internet ventures both are still early stages so I am still working a job as a senior java developer in a medium sized business building business software that allows people to run their business from a browser. Being that I am on my 3rd and 4th business venture I’ve learned a lot on the business side. I am married and have to find balance between my business aspirations, job, and family.

So now I am sitting in a very unique position which allow me to see the world differently and has made me a very effective component of a company. As I venture out into the world of start-ups I welcome you to visit often and read my latest thoughts, and discoveries. Who knows I might have answers that save you a lot of time.
